DOG GROOMING SUPPLIES

Looking to clip, brush, and bath your pet?  You’ll want some dog grooming supplies. Even if you rely on a professional there are a few tools you will want to have in your canine care-taking box. On a lazy Sunday afternoon why not take a moment to snuggle up with the pooch for a teeth brushing? Or instead of the usual petting why not grab a brush for a quick run through? Remember to weekly check inside those ears.

TIP: Inside your care-taking box keep a de-skunk kit handy. A box of baking soda and a bottle of peroxide has been known to help take away that skunk odor. Also, a bottle of meat tenderizer has been said to help with bee stings.

Show your pets how much you enjoy taking good care of them.

Grooming Tables.  Chasing puppers around the house with a brush in one hand and claw clippers in the other?  Comical mental picture is very much a reality for those without a designated, organized station.  Take a tip from the professionals; order a portable grooming table.  Of course we all know not to walk away from our work bench, even if we’ve tamed the wild beast into a relaxing trance.

Combs, Brushes, Slickers, Strippers, Rakes, De-shedding Tools.  Is the dog comfortable enough to trust you?  Those who perform this labor of love find the stillness to be therapeutic and relaxing, forgetting about people troubles to solely focus on the dog.  That is, once fury client accepts the fact that it’s not playtime.  A trainer told us that our pet senses how we feel, i.e. stress, frustration.  Taking that concept to the grooming table - how great for your pet to feel as calm as you.  Which grooming tool?  Manufactures will suggest which one is appropriate for your breed’s coat; Long, Short, Curly, Wiry, Smooth, or Silky.

Toe Nail Clippers, Grinders.  Yes, you can confidently trim nails and dew claws safely and efficiently. Nail grinders are an alternative to clippers, either the scissors type or guillotine style.  Your preference.  Order a ‘boo boo stop’ should the quik be accidentally clipped and both you and dog cry.

Grooming Shears, Clippers, Trimmers.  “It’s ok, the hair will grow back.”  Shaving down your pet’s full body coat? See clippers.  Small area finishing?  See trimmers.  For a very sharp, clean hair line see grooming shears.

Basic Hygiene Products: Supplies for Ears, Eyes, Teeth, Clean Coat Care. No more tear stains, dirty/wet ears.  Yes, there is toothpaste for dogs’ dental health, don’t use the peoples kind.  How often?  Brush teeth once or twice a week, more often if your pet likes anything related to the mouth.  Shampoo and conditioner again may be personal preference; your pet’s coat is an indicator of which type to choose for the occasional bath. Specialty lotions, powders, sprays target conditions such as itchiness or tangles.

Tubs, Sprayers.  Tired off leaning over the bathtub waiting for the spigot to fill a pitcher of rinse water?  Unless your Teacup is getting a bath in the kitchen sink, you may want to take a look at some kind of booster tub.  Sprayers are so convenient with a pet who is anxiously waiting for it to be over already.

Dryers.  “Wet pet is where?”  Certain breeds cannot just air dry.  While other canine simply do not have permission to dry off while rolling on master’s bed or couch, rubbing against the home’s interior walls leaving wet hair behind in a wrath of silliness.  A powerful blow dryer designed for dog is what you’ll want.  After you use it, you’ll understand why human hair dryers can’t compete.
