A canine cannot live on pizza boxes alone. As a substitute for anything imaginable and unimaginable that a dog could and will destroy, we're searching online for all of the indestructible dog toys we can find to pacify a strong chewer.

Parents of fur kids nationwide truly thank suppliers who promote the manufacturers of strong, durable toys that withstand the test of chew. We health-minded dog owners want more safe tough and heavy-duty dog toys.

Lab pup recently punctured tennis ball, also likes to pull at the soft fuzzy coating. Surprised us so here's a learned CONSUMER WARNING: Do not walk away from any toy chewing session for obvious reasons.

Ideally, we're looking for something Made in the USA, veterinarian approved and kennel tested. Like the nylon material in the recommended Nylabones®.  Now this is a label we all CAN trust.  The Kong®, the "busy boxes", the Hurley®, the Cuz ® and Orbee®; all must haves and highly recommended. 

In the beginning. As a puppy there were at least 20 toys around of all kinds.  Toys are not just for play, they also teach and offer interaction for bonding. Like with your dogs, some are more of a favorite than others. Some also lasted longer than others! We learned what he liked and disliked as any good puppy dog owner should.

Then came teething.  Oh, you know what I'm talking about. Those Nylabones® suddenly became a favorite after all. TIP: For those of you in the teething stage now, Bitter Apple Spray, folks.  Spray it on your woodwork before it’s too late. You have a 50/50 chance your chewer will turn the other direction. We learned the hard way but persevered through that ?*&%# stage.  Too bad closed-loop carpeting and wooden trim aren't tough enough to be indestructible…

Recommendations Update. Perhaps not all dogs require industrial strength, so heavy-duty an act of God could only destroy. You may have a smaller breed who likes to chew and the average strong toys are a perfect fit.

We like: Biggest Nylabone® in different shapes. Jolly Pet Romp-n-Roll®, sans the floss. It is THEE best ball. Everlasting Treat Ball® for a thinking treat toy. Orka® blue bouncy ball is hollow for indoor play. Kong® red ball is solid and cannot be eaten. And, of course, Pizza Boxes are always a favorite shred.
