Dog Run as a Kennel. Has your dog been leaving landmines all over the yard? Are there yellow like crop circles in green grass from the pooch puddles? Take the concept from professional boarders and downscale for home use. Optional cement pads can be placed, or poured, for sanitized flooring.
Convenience.
Some owners like the convenience of a dog door leading to an outdoor kennel. This dog run requires little inconvenience on your part. You could be away from home for several hours. Remember to add a water source such as an Automatic Water Bowl (see article). Dog has indoor shelter from outdoor weather and extreme temperature. Best of both doggie worlds, don't you agree?
Kennel Tarp.
Protect your nature lover with a doghouse inside the chain link structure. He will be safe, right? Well…unless you place a roof or cover, your great escape artist has a step to over the top. This very situation happened to a neighbor with their hound/mix. Yes, a kennel tarp can be ordered in sun protective material. These canopies also provide dry "den-like" shelter.
Quality Material. Yes, you could go fast and cheap with a tie-out leash or cord. These are recommended for use while in your presence, though. A galvanized, fence-like kennel prevents a wrap around scare. If your shelter choice is a doghouse, you will most likely use a tie-out or leash. With dog kennels you don't have to worry so much about outdoor surroundings.
Quality material is worth the investment. Heavy-duty chain link, high gauge steel, and steel wire mesh, are meant to last. Go rock-solid unless all you want is basically a portable exercise pen for the small to medium breed.
